Learning Support Assistant

The SEND provision at Crofton school is recognised as providing excellent personalised learning for all our students, and as a result, the number of students joining the school to access this provision has increased. Therefore, we require additional staffing to support these students with a range of educational needs both in and outside the classroom. This is an ideal opportunity for people seeking school-based experience before progressing to teacher training.

The post holder will focus on improving progress and raise attainment for our students in close association with our teaching staff. This may involve 1:1, small group work or supporting individual students in class.

Applicants will be positive and flexible, with the ability to use their initiative in a busy fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, with the ability to speak to students in a manner which encourages, motivates, and supports. You should have a good standard of education including Level 2 Numeracy / Literacy skills. Previous experience of working with young people in a professional environment is desirable, but not essential. The ability to work as part of our friendly supportive team is essential. This is an exciting but challenging role that requires a good sense of humour, resilience, determination, and patience.

Crofton is a friendly and ambitious school, excited about the future of education and determined to become ‘Exceptional’. In a move to achieve this, we have joined the HISP Multi Academy Trust from April 2023. If you can nurture and support individual students whilst having the flexibility and confidence to find ways to help them engage with their learning, then this could be the post for you.

Crofton School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. References will be taken up for those candidates short-listed for interview. The successful candidate will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.

CVs are not accepted. Please download and complete an application form found below, and return to recruitment@croftonschool.org

A tour of the school for all short-listed candidates is included as part of the interview process.
